Hmmmm...

Was at the press conference. Yessshhh, they were as big as what Billy and Roy recommended. But she's really tiny and petite. Her waist is too tiny for words. I reckon she has a 21 or 22" waist-line. How the hell she packs all those organs in that frame is beyond my comprehension.

But her voice is really quite irritating though... A very nasal and high pitched voice.

Though you can't tell from the pictures, she has what we call a Chinese ass. That is, no ass.

We are fucked...

This just came in the mail from Sujin who mentioned, "NASA predicts Worldwide Holiday on Feb 1, 2019 as the world is scheduled to end. This is 13+ years from now... Remember then to live life to the fullest as we never know if TOMORROW will ever come! Looks like it might be worth it to buy that 99-year lease condo now..."

Pissing in my pants...

From SG Yahoo news:

Riot police broke up a rare demonstration by four people demanding greater transparency and accountability in Singapore's state-managed pension fund and other government-linked agencies.

A dozen anti-riot police wearing helmets and knee-high protective gear and carrying shields and batons formed a phalanx outside the offices of the Central Provident Fund (CPF) as a commanding officer approached the demonstrators.

"You are committing an offence of public nuisance. If you don't disperse you will be arrested," the officer told the protesters as business people and employees watched in the central business district.

The four protesters, among them an office administrator and the sister of an opposition leader, Chee Soon Juan, voluntarily dispersed. They denied being part of any political group.

Police later asked them to hand over their protest materials -- T-shirts and placards -- as part of an investigation to determine whether they had violated any laws.

The two men and two women assembled at lunchtime outside the CPF building in the business district. They said they did not need a permit and staged their protest for about an hour.

Under the law, any public protest of at least five people without a police permit is deemed illegal. The protest took place as Singapore was in the midst of official celebrations of its 40th anniversary of independence.

The protesters hoisted placards calling for greater openness in how the government handles public funds used for retirement pensions, overseas investments and the building of subsidized high-rise apartments.

A police officer said they had received a telephone call from a "member of the public" about the protest, prompting them to send in the riot police.

Monica Kumar, 45, one of the protesters, said they had been insipired by public outrage that followed revelations last month that the chief executive of Singapore's biggest charity, the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), was being paid 350,000 US dollars annually.

The scandal sparked an online petition signed by more than 40,000 people and forced the NKF chief executive, T.T. Durai, and the entire board to resign.

"In reality, the NKF is reflective of the entire system in Singapore where public matters are run in a non-transparent and non-accountable manner," the protesters said in a statement.

The statement called on the Housing Development Board and the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) to open their books for public scrutiny.

GIC manages more than 100 billion US dollars in funds and invests globally.

"We call on the government to make Singapore more transparent and accountable, starting with the state organisations mentioned above," the protesters said.

The Aftermath Of Karaoke

In the 80's, the Japanese invented the Walkman which revolutionised music listening. You can listen to your favourite tune on the go, anywhere and anytime. In the 80's, the Japanese also invented something else that revolutionised music listening as well. Karaoke. You can never listen to your favourite tune the same way after your neighbour who blasts his karaoke system is done slaughtering the song.

The Aftermath Of Karaoke is a showcase of atmospheric and psychedelic music, the anti-thesis of your neighbour's karaoke machine. Space out with their unique brand of post-rock, dream pop and shoegazer music. The Embryo, ShameJoannShame, Documentary In Amber, I Am David Sparkle, furniture, The Citizens Of Ice-cream and Astreal will douse the audience with their washed-out and trippy sounds. Know that there's still music after karaoke.

Event: The Aftermath of Karaoke

Date: 19-21 August 2005

Venue: The Esplanade Outdoor Theatre

Time: All shows start at 1930hr.

The Observatory Album Launch Concert - Blank Walls

Press Release

Blank Walls is The Observatory’s second album after Time of Rebirth. This new album will be officially released on 2 September 2005, marked by a launch concert that same evening at 9.30pm at Esplanade Recital Studio.

The production of Blank Walls was carried out over an intensive period of 4 months, by the band members themselves, who are currently in the final stages of mixing and mastering their album at Duper in Norway with producer Jørgen Træen. Local sound artist and designer, Yuen Chee Wai, contributed the idea for this album’s design and concept.

The release of The Observatory's sophomore album Blank Walls marks the maturity of a group in their attempt to venture beyond current trends and radio playability. Blank Walls is the product of a year of extensive musical experimentation, recording, arranging and creating music amongst six musicians, of whom the latest member to join is drummer Adam Shah, who adds a new intensity to the band’s second album and plays an indispensable role in the rhythm section. The strongest desire expressed by the band was to produce a second album that does not mirror the first. Instead of creating an album of songs sharing a similar stylistic vein, Blank Walls is deliberately loose, eschewing particular themes or genres. The result is a diverse, experimental palette of words, sonic layering, and musical contrasts. The subject matter spans equally varied themes from anger to disenchantment, from the quaint and humorous to self-mockery or plain indignation. The tension, both musical and lyric-wise, seems more palpable now than before.

The launch of Blank Walls will feature a 75-minute concert showcasing material from the group’s full-length follow-up. The album will be available in all major and independent stores from 1 September onwards.

Since the band’s debut Time of Rebirth was released in March 2004, The Observatory has gone on to perform in major festivals such as Baybeats 2004 in Singapore, as well as regional music events in Malaysia and Thailand, the most recent of which was The Pattaya Music Festival. The band were invited to stage their own performances at The Esplanade Theatre Studio for two nights in July last year as well as a prestigious opening performance for Chicago music group, Tortoise, as part of the Mosaic Festival last March. They most recently performed in the ‘Rock On Singapore’ event as part of this year’s Singapore Arts Festival. They particularly relished their collaboration with local filmmaker Royston Tan, in a mixed-media project that gave the band the rare opportunity to score the soundtrack to his short film The Absentee as well as the opening set to Tan’s charity showcase held earlier this year in March.

Follow-up plans include distribution plans for South-East Asia and Japan as well as more live performances in and around the region. Special dates have been set for performances in festivals such as Urbanscapes 2005 to be held in Kuala Lumpur and the famous Fat Festival in Bangkok later this year.

The Blank Walls album launch concert on 2 September 2005 is supported by the Arts Fund and National Arts Council and presented in collaboration with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.

The thief I am...

Someone took these pictures of B-Quartet from last night's show.

What a great way...

... to wake up in the morning to your mom telling you, "Eh boy, July 2006, smoking is banned in coffeeshops and hawker centres. It just came out in the papers." with a glee in her tone that's unmistakeable.

Oh well...

It's kinda weird considering it's such a triumph for the non-smokers here whereas in the States, the tobacco industry managed to overthrow a law suit in court. Doonesbury has it all pat down...

Not work-safe

I was looking for some pictures for the H.A.I.R. of the month till I stumbled across this site with a very interesting online banner. Check out this site. Look at the online banners at the bottom. I didn't know you could find this stuff at Pasir Panjang Village or Toa Payoh.

Hmmmm... I must be living in the wrong district.

South Park youself... Episode VI: The Over-worked Employee Strikes Back

Here's Max. Doesn't look a thing like him though...

South Park yourself... Episode IV: A New Whiner

A flattering image of Aaron.

We just ended 'Get Off That Thang!' at the Esplanade over the weekend. It was great and we had a great audience. Thankfully, we sold 110 copies of B-Quartet's debut EP! Woo hoo!
